Small Hydro Electric projects (SHEP)
To cater to the increasing energy demands of our State of Kerala, CIAL Infra forayed into energy generation from Small Hydro-Electric projects. The Government of Kerala had allotted to CIAL Infra, a small hydro-electric project called Arippara SHEP of 4.5MW capacity, in Kozhikkode district. This is on BOOT basis for a period of thirty years, starting from the date of signing of the Implementation Agreement, which was in October 2014.This project has IPP (Independent Power Unit) status and the power generated from this SHEP project is sold to Kerala State Electricity Board Limited. This is a run of the river project and the plant shall be operational only during the monsoon months, ie from June to November. This SHEP plant was commissioned on 13th October 2021 and the plant generates 13 million units of power annually.
